This disclaimer applies to all device-based wellness services at The Portal, including Vibroacoustic Therapy (VAT), Infrared Light Therapy (IR), the Therapy Lounge, walk-in therapy sessions, and any other session involving wellness devices or technology.
Wellness use only. Devices and equipment used at The Portal are offered for relaxation, personal wellness, and general well-being purposes only. Unless explicitly identified in writing as a legally cleared medical device, no device at The Portal is intended as a medical device under FDA definitions, and no device use constitutes medical diagnosis, treatment, cure, or prevention of any disease or condition.
Before you use any device, please inform your practitioner or session provider if you have any of the following conditions or concerns:
- Pregnancy or possible pregnancy
- Implanted electronic devices (pacemaker, defibrillator, cochlear implant, insulin pump, neurostimulator, or any implanted metal hardware)
- Active cancer or history of cancer treatment
- Seizure disorder or epilepsy
- Cardiovascular conditions (irregular heartbeat, recent heart surgery, blood clot risk, deep vein thrombosis)
- Neurological conditions
- Photosensitivity or sensitivity to light
- Use of photosensitizing medications (including certain antibiotics, diuretics, antifungals, or topical retinoids - consult your prescribing physician)
- Active skin conditions, open wounds, burns, or skin infections in the treatment area
- Recent surgery (within the past 12 weeks unless medically cleared)
- Dizziness, fainting episodes, or balance concerns
- Heat sensitivity or difficulty regulating body temperature
- Chronic illness not listed above
- Any other medical concern
Stop use immediately and notify staff if you experience: pain, burning, excessive heat, dizziness, shortness of breath, chest discomfort, palpitations, nausea, visual disturbance, unusual pressure, panic, numbness, or any unusual or concerning symptom during or after a session.
Staff may refuse or stop use of any device at any time based on safety concerns, undisclosed conditions, or conduct, without liability.
Consult your physician before using any wellness device if you have existing medical conditions, take prescription medications, or have any doubt about whether a service is appropriate for your current health status.
